Secret Squadron Goranger: Episodes 40 and 41

Well, well, well, look who's back! Bet y'all have been waiting for this, right? I seriously can't think of apologies that would suffice, so maybe I'll just drop these two babies here, and hope everyone forgives us for the delay xD

This two episodes are pretty neat IMO, I think you'll enjoy them. For 40, we have Momo being hypnotized by the MOTW, who has a weird relationship with our good ol' pal Iron Man Mask.

41 goes back to the Kaikei Hotel (man, they must've paid MAD cash for all that publicity - assuming it is a real place xD) for a MOTW who's a bit of an idiot, a child who's as annoying as every single child in early Sentai (even if she shows up just a little), and the setup for an amazing battle next time.

Translation notes:
Nothing that's too noteworthy on these episodes translation-wise, except for the riddle the kid poses for Daita - "At what age was Beethoven considered a genius". The answer to that is "Ten-years-old" because in Japanese the word for genius is "tensai", "sai" being also the word used to count age, ten being... Well, ten. It goes without saying that Japanese people love their puns, right?

Also, a temari is a japanese embroided ball, made for children to play with, and Noh is a genre of japanese musical theatre.

Anyway, I have sad news, so let's not get too happy, right? Maybe I just scared everyone, but please chill: we ain't dropping it. No matter how long it takes me, I won't quit this until I see it done!

The sad bit of news is the following: Goranger episodes will be coming a bit faster from now on. What the hell, you might ask, why would that be sad at all? Well, here's why: my good buddy Angel, the awesome guy who did Daitaspeak on our releases, and who slightly rewords everything I translate and throw at him, has decided to stop working on this series. So, while it does pick up a little bit of the pace, because what took the longest to get these ready was editing it through usually seven different slightlly-improved versions, it loses something too. Worry not, I can assure you the quality of our work remains the highest we can provide, and translation will be as accurate as humanly possible (keep in mind the show is forty years old).

I'm not too sure I should really go into the reasons that made him decide to quit Goranger, so if he has anything to add we'll see it in a post @ L&C's blog soon enough. Anyway, this means this is back to being a Rampage solo, and I hope you all will keep hangin' with us until the very end. See you soon for Goranger 42, guys!

  1. Yeah, next time is going to be good: Temujin is easily my favorite Black Cross general and his end is rather epic (though its also the same episode as the series says farewell to a good friend...). And yeah, I did like his and Iron Basket Mask's little rivalry as well...

    1. Temujin's death is going to be one of the most epic moments in the show indeed. It is also the last episode in the fist half of the series.
